How this count works

The start date counts and the end date does not, unless you choose “Include end date.” That makes a same-date span zero days by default, or one with the option checked.

A reversed span keeps the same magnitude and shows a minus sign. Weekday and weekend totals use the earlier date as the start. Clock changes do not add or remove calendar dates.

See how we count for the calendar conventions behind the answer.

Next, if you need it

For working days rather than calendar days, remove weekends and US federal holidays.

For part of a day, use the hours calculator.

A worked example

From February 28 to March 1, 2024 is 2 days with the end date left out. February 29 is part of that span.
