Long weekends in the Falkland Islands
Your working week and workplace closures
In the Falkland Islands, two long weekends are left in 2026 with no leave: King's Birthday (November 14 to 16) and Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Christmas Holiday (December 25 to 29). Best value: take December 30 to December 31 off (2 days) for ten days in a row around Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Christmas Holiday and New Year's Day.
| Holiday | Days off in a row without leave | Take these days off | You get |

How the planner works
Each row starts from a holiday that is a day off in the Falkland Islands holiday calendar we use, with its substitute day where the calendar gives one for a holiday on a weekend. It takes Saturday and Sunday as the weekend, as in the Falkland Islands. If you work other days, or your workplace closes for a stretch, set them under “Your working week and workplace closures”: the rows, the leave budget and the calendar file then count leave only on days you would work. A holiday on a day you do not work adds no day off here; some employers give another day instead. The suggested leave days join the holiday to the nearest weekend or other holiday, using at most four days of leave, and the row shows the option with the most days off for each day of leave.
Government departments, except those providing essential services, also close on two days after Christmas that are not public holidays: December 30 and 31 in 2026 and 2027 (gov.fk’s holiday table). The planner counts them as working days; if you work for the government, you have them off without taking leave.
Employers, schools and regional calendars can add or move days. Check your own working pattern before booking.
