How the timesheet adds up
Each day's hours are the time from the start to the end, minus the unpaid break. An end time earlier than the start time means the shift ends the next day, so 10 PM to 6 AM is 8 hours. The week's total adds the minutes and shows them as hours and minutes (40:30) and as decimal hours (40.50: the minutes divided by 60, to two places). Nothing is rounded to the quarter hour, and no overtime or pay rule is applied: check those with your employer.
The days follow your own calendar and time zone. If the clocks go back during a night shift, the shift lasts an hour longer than the clock suggests, and an hour less when they go forward; the row says so and counts the time that really passed. A time the clocks pass twice is read as the first one. Your times stay in this page and its address; they are not sent anywhere.
Worked example
Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch: 8 hours 30 minutes from start to end, 8 hours worked each day. Five days make 40 hours, or 40.00 in decimal hours.
